The Fifth Miracle Meeting

Then at about 4:30 PM, Mom came and told me that two kids, Vinod (middle) and Gopal, had already shown up for the fifth miracle meeting that was to start at 6:00 PM.  I asked them why they had come so early and Vinod said that Gopal was ancy and wanted to come as soon as possible.  The Gopal chimed in and said that Vinod wanted to see the Jesus movie.  Shortly after that Ajay, Vinod (small), Pushpind and Mukesh also showed up.  My two cousins Sunny and Sunny also showed up (they have come from Punjab to visit me for a few days).  Since none of them except for Ajay had heard the story of Jesus, I decided to share the story of Jesus with them and to show them a short clip from the Jesus movie about the birth of Jesus.  As we finished that up and began worship, Maharaj Singh and Kishan Pal joined us.  As we were finishing worship, Golu, Nahim and a new boy, Maajit, joined us.  Big Vinod came a bit later.  I asked the boys if they wanted to just worship and go home, but they said no, they wanted to hear a message.  So, I shared with them about the who, what, where, when, why, and how of prayer.  As we finished up, we spent some more time in prayer and prayed for the various needs the kids had.  Nahim had hurt his leg.  As we prayed, the pain left.  Middle Vinod came forward and asked for prayer because he tends to get upset and swear.  Some of the other boys came and said they needed prayer for the exact same thing.  We prayed.

The boys were in a particularly jovial mood today.  They were playfully fighting amongst themselves.  As they left, they promised to come again on Sunday.

Something kind of disturbing happened today.  Chotu got into a lot of trouble and is being sent back to his village for good.  A few days ago, he stopped working for the people upstairs.  We tried to convince him that he shouldn’t quit his job with them because they hardly make him work and treat him very well.  But, he wouldn’t listen.  Then today he stole several metal items from our house and sold them in the market for money.  I am so disappointed that he would do that.  Up until the day before yesterday, he was spending at least an hour or so with me every day, just talking about whatever came to his mind.  The other day we even invited him to watch a movie with us at night.  And today…he stole from us.  I don’t understand why he did this.  Although he has always seemed to be mischievous, but at the same time, I always thought that he was honest and wouldn’t steal or lie.  I guess I am not the best judge of character.

Scripture for the Day:
Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me; You will stretch out Your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and Your right hand will save me.  Psalms 138:7.
